Dean Joel PodolnyDean's Message
July 1 marked my third anniversary as dean, and all anniversaries seem to prompt reflection. It seems like only a short time ago that I was asking students to help me find a particular classroom or to give me their opinions on which food cart provided the best deal for lunch. I think it is safe to say that by any reckoning, it's been an amazing three years.

Yale SOM Reunion WeekendFall Reunion Weekends
On September 26-28, SOM will celebrate the 25th Anniversary Reunion of the Class of 1983 — and for the first time in the school’s history — a 30th Reunion — the 30th Anniversary Reunion of the Class of 1978. On October 17-19, the Classes of 1988, 1993, 1998, and 2003 will celebrate their 20th, 15th, 10th, and 5th Anniversary Reunions respectively.

New Associate Dean for Development and Alumni Relations Hired
Joel Getz was named associate dean for development and alumni relations in May. Prior to his arrival at SOM, Getz was director of development at the William J. Clinton Foundation in New York, where he was instrumental in creating a formal development operation. He also served as president of the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City and continues to serve on the board of that organization.

Wanda Rapaczynski '82Alumna Contributes to Curriculum
Wanda Rapaczynski '82 helped convert an underground newspaper into one of the biggest media companies in Eastern Europe — Agora SA. Her story became the first case taught in this year’s Integrated Leadership Perspective, a required course for all first-year students in the Yale MBA integrated curriculum.

Loan Forgiveness Program

Jon Carson '84, CEO of cMarket, has turned the art of charity auctions into a lucrative science. The Yale SOM Internship Fund is one of the many organizations to use cMarket's services for setting up web auctions for charities. “There is an enormous untapped marketplace here,” Carson says.
