Dean's Message - SOM Core Curriculum
I write with exciting news from the Yale School of Management. Yesterday, the School’s senior faculty voted unanimously to approve a proposal to design and implement a new MBA core curriculum in the 2006-2007 academic year. Yale is prepared to break new ground by delivering a management education that remains true to SOM’s founding mission of educating leaders for business and society while providing an even more effective preparation for the challenges of contemporary management careers in every sector.

The Professor David Berg Leadership Scholarship Fund
David Berg, Ph.D., professor at the Yale School of Management from 1977-1992, will be honored with a new, endowed scholarship that is to be awarded annually in his name. Established by a generous gift from an anonymous donor, The Professor David Berg Leadership Scholarship will be awarded to an incoming student who has demonstrated, in his or her years since college graduation, a commitment to improving both the humaneness and effectiveness of organizational life through personal and institutional self scrutiny.

Lipman Hearne Survey
Earlier this year, Yale SOM engaged the services of Lipman Hearne, a Chicago-based marketing firm with extensive experience working with universities and nonprofits, to help guide a branding and marketing strategy project for the School. The project kicked off in early December, with initial meetings with administrative department staffs. During that initial visit, the consultants also had the opportunity to observe the dynamics of an all-school meeting.

Two Reunion Weekends Planned for Fall 2006
We look forward to celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Class of 1981 on September 15 and 16, and the 20th, 15th, 10th and 5th anniversaries of the Classes of 1986, 1991, 1996, and 2001 on October 13 and 14. Each weekend will include special festivities for each class, including the Class Dinner, opportunities to talk with the faculty and the Dean, and plenty of time to re-connect with classmates. Class websites will go live later this spring with more information.
