Dean Sharon M. Oster Sharon M. Oster Named Dean of the Yale School of Management
A long-time member of the Yale SOM faculty, Sharon M. Oster, the Frederic D. Wolfe Professor of Management and Entrepreneurship, became dean of the Yale School of Management on November 1, 2008.

SOM Student Wins Major Business Competition in India
If there were a decathlon for business students, Roberto Jimenez '09 just took home the gold. Jimenez, who is spending the fall studying abroad in India, won a grueling three-day-long contest, The Numero Uno competition, to find India's "next CEO."

Marketing Strategy: Learning from the Experts
Steve Sturm, group vice president of Toyota North America, recently guided students in the Marketing Strategy course through two case studies about the launch of successful brands: Lexus and Scion. Professor Ravi Dhar, who teaches the elective course, brings in chief marketing officers from companies like Visa, General Electric, and IBM to talk about their successes and failures.

John Eng ’09 Student Profile: Summer Venture
The SOM core curriculum is built on a number of Perspectives aimed at teaching a manager to assess a problem from multiple angles. At Sears, I got to test out all my new knowledge and I was amazed how perfectly it fit into real-world situations.

Bruce Becker '85 says being both an architect and a developer puts him in the business of solutions. He was chosen to build a new 30-story apartment building in downtown New Haven.

40+ recruiting firms — the largest number to date — met with SOM students at the annual Meet the Firms to discuss summer internships and full-time positions.
7destinations have been set for the 2009 International Experience where first-year students engage in intensive study, meet with local business leaders, complete a trip project, and take part in cultural activities.
