This year we’ve added some new features — including new essay topics — that we hope will allow you to present as compelling an application as possible, and also help you begin to think about how an MBA from Yale will enable you to have an impact on the world.

Class of 2010 OrientationYale Curriculum: Orientation
The Class of 2010 Orientation this year included many scenes familiar to previous classes — a rousing speech from the Dean; an introduction to New Haven cuisine at SOM Tastes New Haven; a visit to the New York Stock Exchange. But a new Orientation exercise introduced first-year students to the SOM approach.

Dean Joel M. Podolny was a guest on the internationally distributed business radio program Marketplace on August 28 to discuss the new innovative "raw" case studies pioneered by SOM to support the school’s integrated MBA curriculum.

Yale SOM Hosts Executive Program at the Beijing Olympics
The Yale Global Business Leadership Program brought together more than a hundred CEOs, journalists, government leaders, and some of SOM’s top faculty to discuss the state of global business and the rapidly growing role of China as an economic power at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

I was immediately attracted to SOM. It's so international, which suits me well since I want to continue working throughout the developing world. SOM recently launched an international exchange program where students get to study at a number of great business schools around the world. I'll be spending the fall at the Indian Institute of Management in Bangalore.

Wanda Rapaczynski '84 helped convert an underground newspaper into one of the biggest media companies in Eastern Europe — Agora SA. Her story became the first case taught in this year’s Integrated Leadership Perspective, a required course for all first-year students in the Yale integrated MBA curriculum.
