Yale Curriculum: The Investor
On the last day of the Investor course, Professor Nicholas Barberis, ran through a list of famous scholars — Harry Markowitz, Bill Sharpe, and Eugene Fama, to name a few — who have shaped the history of the financial world. Students had spent the previous month and a half learning about the theories of these scholars, but unlike in other introductory finance courses, the exercise wasn’t merely theoretical.

Prime Minister Tony Blair to Teach at Yale SOM
Yale University President Richard C. Levin announced that former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair has been appointed the Howland Distinguished Fellow for the 2008-2009 academic year. Mr. Blair will lead a seminar on faith and globalization to be jointly coordinated by the Yale School of Management and the Yale Divinity School.

The sketch on the screen looked a bit like a stop sign. In the middle of the eight-sided shape, a large open area radiated four pathways, which broke up into four equal sections. As Chris West, an architect for Foster + Partners, explained the design to his audience of SOM students and staff, a new kind of classroom came into view.
