From the Admissions Office
April 30, 2008
The academic year is coming to a close, and we would like to thank everyone for their readership throughout the year. We’ve enjoyed getting to know you through the admissions process and look forward to meeting prospective students around the world this fall. Our travel schedule will be posted online over the summer, so please check our web site periodically.
If you’re planning to apply for Yale SOM’s Class of 2011, you can use the summer to begin preparing your application materials. It’s never too early to begin the process, so here are some tips to get a head start.
Begin Studying for the GMAT
Juggling the demands of work and your personal life can make preparing for the GMAT exam difficult. Starting early affords you more time to study and will help you go into the exam more confident.Select Your Recommenders
Giving your recommenders ample time to write their letter of recommendation will insure a thoughtful and informative assessment of your strengths as an applicant. Choose people who know you well and can add specific examples to highlight your work experience and what you will bring to the SOM community.Outline Your Essays
Although our application won’t go live until August, we’ll preview next year’s essay questions on the SOM Community Blog in July. The application changes from year to year, so it’s best wait for the official word before you start writing. We do want you to think about your goals and why you want to get an MBA, so that’s something you can begin to solidify over the summer as you research business schools.
