Winners of the 2011-2012 Yale SOMAA Teaching Awards Announced

Posted on: April 17, 2012

Over the course of four days in April, Yale SOM students queued up in the Hall of Mirrors to submit their votes for the SOMAA Teaching Awards. Close to two thirds of current students cast a vote.

And the winners are:

The first-year students selected James A. Levinsohn as the outstanding teacher in the core curriculum. Levinson, who is the Charles W. Goodyear Professor in Global Affairs, professor of economics and management, and director of the Jackson Institute, taught Basics of Economics this year.

Second-year students selected Ravi Dhar as the outstanding teacher in an elective class. Dhar, has taught at Yale SOM since 1992 and is the George Rogers Clark Professor of Management and Marketing and director of the Center for Customer Insights.

"I appreciate the students recognizing Jim’s and Ravi’s exemplary efforts, skills, and devotion to Yale SOM," Dean Edward A. Snyder wrote in an email to the Yale SOM community. "Please join me in congratulating Jim and Ravi."

Levinson and Dhar will receive their awards at the SOMAA Annual Meeting on Friday, April 20.
