Yale SOM's Chief Executive Leadership Institute Hosts CEO Summit
Around 100 of the world's top business leaders gathered in New York City on December 15 for the CEO Summit organized by the Yale School of Management's Chief Executive Leadership Institute. This was the 68th CEO Summit, and the theme was "Rethinking Global Markets: Leading Businesses across Divergent National Economies."
The CEO Summit is an invitation-only conference, at which distinguished global corporate leaders from across industries engage in lively, candid discussions. Jeffrey Sonnenfeld, the senior associate dean for executive programs and Lester Crown Professor in the Practice of Management at Yale SOM, moderates the discussion and debate.
At the event, CELI awarded its "Legend in Leadership Award" to Andrew N. Liveris, the President, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Dow Chemical Company. The award was presented by Stephen Schwarzman, Chairman and CEO of the Blackstone Group, with personal endorsements by GE CEO Jeffrey Immelt and Ford Motor Company CEO Alan Mulally. CELI also presented Maurice Greenberg, the chairman and CEO of C.V. Starr, with its "Lifetime of Leadership Award." The award honors people who have helped build and shape enterprises and initiatives to advance responsible global commerce and economic development across sectors and continents and over several decades. Past winners include: former Goldman Sachs co-chairman John Whitehead; financier Albert H. Gordon; and Vanguard founder John C. Bogle.
