Yale Chief Executive Leadership Institute to Honor Maurice R. Greenberg of Starr Companies with Lifetime of Leadership Award

New Haven, CT, Monday, December 19, 2011 – Maurice R. Greenberg, Chairman and CEO of C.V. Starr & Co., Inc. and Starr International USA, Inc., collectively known as Starr Companies, was awarded the "Lifetime of Leadership Award" of the Yale Chief Executive Leadership Institute at a ceremony held December 15th at The Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City.

The award was presented to Mr. Greenberg by John Whitehead, the legendary former Co-Chairman of Goldman Sachs, at the 68th gathering of the Yale CEO Summit of The Chief Executive Leadership Institute, "the world’s first CEO College."

Mr. Greenberg has a distinguished career as a leading Executive in the Insurance Industry and is recognized as a global business icon. Mr. Greenberg is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of C. V. Starr & Co., Inc. and Starr International USA, Inc., collectively known as Starr Companies, a global insurance and financial services organization. Mr. Greenberg is also Chairman of The Starr Foundation, a major supporter of academic, medical, cultural, and public policy institutions.

Mr. Greenberg has been instrumental in advancing major aspects of Yale’s international outreach including funding visiting international scholars, supporting the World Fellows Program and funding the new Maurice R. Greenberg Conference Center.

Mr. Greenberg is active in a number of civic and charitable organizations, including serving as Honorary Vice Chairman and Director of the Council on Foreign Relations, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for the National Committee on United States-China Relations, Board Member and Chairman Emeritus of New York-Presbyterian Hospital, New York University and many, many others.

The "Lifetime of Leadership Award" was created to honor hugely influential, successful people who have helped build and shape enterprises and initiatives to advance responsible global commerce and economic development across sectors, continents, over several decades.
