Announcement: Appointment of Senior Associate Dean Jeanette Gorgas

Posted on: April 5, 2011

A Message from Dean Designate Edward A. Snyder:

I am pleased to announce that Ms. Jeanette Gorgas will join the Yale School of Management on Monday, April 11, 2011, as Senior Associate Dean for the MBA Program.

Ms. Gorgas will be the visible leader—internally and externally—of the Full-Time MBA Program and a member of the Dean's Leadership Team that manages broader aspects of the school. Ms. Gorgas will be an important resource in developing and strengthening school-wide external relationships with the broad array of enterprises with which Yale SOM interacts on multiple dimensions. She will, of course, be actively engaged with MBA students as they progress academically and professionally. Ms. Gorgas will have overall responsibility for recruitment and admissions, student services and academic advising, and career development. She will also work with other academic units to ensure that Yale SOM takes full advantage of the eminence of Yale University.

To this set of responsibilities, Ms. Gorgas brings skills, insights, and breadth of knowledge from her substantial previous leadership experiences in global organizations in the financial sector, as well as a significant involvement in the entrepreneurial and nonprofit sectors. Most recently, Ms. Gorgas served as Bank of America's Senior Vice President, Leadership Development Executive for Global Banking and Markets, where she managed the division's critical innovation and practices around leadership development, talent management, performance management, and organizational effectiveness. At Deutsche Bank, Ms. Gorgas was Managing Director, Global Talent Acquisition and Development Manager for Global Markets, where she led division-wide efforts to acquire and develop talent for sales, trading, and research positions. She also served as Deutsche Bank's Human Resources Manager for Global Markets in the Americas, and as Human Resources Manager for several global businesses. Ms. Gorgas earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Rutgers College, School of Business, and attended Harvard Business School's Advanced Management Program. She is active in several community organizations, including her role as a member of the Board of Directors for Environmental Advocates of New York.

I recall Ms. Gorgas as exceedingly impressive and effective when she recruited MBAs during the early part of her career at Deutsche Bank—before her responsibilities shifted to senior-executive talent. I am extremely pleased that Ms. Gorgas has accepted the offer to come to Yale and look forward to Ms. Gorgas's enthusiastic leadership, to her evident interest in the Yale SOM community, to her commitment to continuing the school's strong momentum, and to her skilled approach in achieving objectives that will benefit our students, alumni, and faculty—and increase Yale SOM's global influence on business and society.

Edward A. Snyder, Dean Designate
