Dean Oster Blogs about Yale SOM Sustainability Project

Posted on: August 18, 2010

Dean Sharon Oster, a regular contributor to the Forbes CSR Blog, has devoted her latest post to the Yale SOM Sustainability Project, a student-led initiative to reduce the consumption of resources and the waste produced at the school. The project, which included sifting through the contents of dumpsters to survey how much waste is thrown out at SOM, was undertaken as a for-credit independent study class by five students last spring. The group presented their recommendations for making SOM greener to Oster. "One of my jobs for next year will be helping our community figure out ways to reduce this waste. Fortunately, our students have already been collecting ideas from our behavioral scientists at the school for ways to change student (and faculty) behavior," she writes.
