Dean's Message
March 17, 2010
Dear Yale SOM Graduates:
When this note arrives in your Inbox, members of the SOM Class of 2011 will be in ten different locations around the world, taking part in their International Experience trips. These trips are one of the innovations in SOM’s integrated curriculum, designed to give our students a truly global perspective, as well as a personal view into the "world of work" they will soon enter. When the students arrive back in New Haven, it is only a few short weeks before they will leave again, some to summer internships and some to their first jobs as new MBAs.
Many of you will recall my email of last month, when I wrote to seek the support of the SOM Alumni Community in helping the students — and helping each other — in this challenging job market. The outpouring of support, and the many connections that were made, was inspiring both to me and to the students. As one alumna wrote to me, and as a current student echoed in the SOM Community Blog: "We are family!"
In this issue of the Alumni Newsletter, we are focusing on recent developments in our Career Development Office, including expanded tools and career services for all SOM alumni, whether they are recruiting new talent, seeking their own professional advancement or change, or networking with other accomplished SOMers. These are some of the ways that we're all working together to strengthen and support the SOM Community.
