News from the CDO

The Career Development Office has successfully concluded a strategic reorganization that was begun over the summer by hiring three new Relationship Managers (RMs), bringing the total CDO RM team size to six professionals who will be available to advise SOM alumni. "By focusing on the Relationship Management model, we are aligning our career development resources to provide the best possible service to current students, to recruiters, and of course, to alumni, who will be able to work with any of our RMs in virtually any area of professional interest," said Ivan Kerbel, the CDO’s director.

Each Relationship Manager is responsible for a focused portfolio of related sectors/industries, and each will be available to advise alumni, providing a critical link between alumni job search needs and first-hand knowledge of employer hiring needs, industry trends, and relevant job search strategies.

The CDO’s approach to serving SOM alumni is now broadly defined as:

• offering one-on-one industry expertise-based advising via the Relationship Manager model
• providing easy online access to job and career resources for alumni
• sponsoring a range of yearly educational and networking alumni career events.

In addition, the CDO has enhanced and increased its resource offerings available via the Alumni Portal, including information on ‘hot jobs’ and career and networking events happening around the country.
