Yale University President Richard C. Levin's SOM Dean's Search Announcement
April 29, 2009
To the Yale School of Management Community:
When I appointed Sharon Oster, Frederic D. Wolfe Professor of Management and Entrepreneurship, to be the dean of the Yale School of Management, effective November 1, 2008, she agreed to serve until a new dean was selected. I now have begun the process of finding a new Dean, and I have established a search committee to advise me in this regard. Under the chairmanship of James Baron, William S. Beinecke Professor of Management, and Professor of Sociology, the following individuals have agreed to serve on this committee:
In addition, I have established an alumni advisory group to assist in the process. Senior Fellow of the Corporation Roland W. Betts '68BA will chair this second committee and will be assisted by the following individuals:
I will rely heavily on the counsel of the whole Yale SOM community, including staff, students, and alumni during this important search. I hope that you will communicate directly with any of these individuals, either on the future of the School in general or on any thoughts you have about a new Dean.
