Audio: Exploring Global Leadership
Students Report Back on International Trips
Four first-year students describe the highlights of their trips to Israel, Turkey, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Chile as part of Yale SOM’s International Experience. The nearly two-week trips are intended to provide future leaders with an in-depth look at the commerce, culture, and political spheres of foreign countries. Students spread out across the globe, each visiting a different region, where they met with company leaders, entrepreneurs, politicians, and community leaders.
The International Experience trips are a mandatory component of the Yale integrated MBA curriculum. Each of the trips, which are led by SOM faculty members, is fully integrated with the school’s curriculum. Students prepared for the trips throughout the fall semester by researching industries in their destination countries, giving presentations to classmates, and hearing from experts on the region. Upon their return, they submit a research project and integrate the lessons they learned into State and Society, a core course taught during the spring semester.
