School Hosts Events for Alumni and Prospective Students in Cities around the World

Posted on: December 23, 2008

Classes at Yale SOM won't resume until January 26, but the SOM community remains active. SOM students, whether traveling on their own or as part of the required first-year International Experience trips, will host events for alumni and prospective students around the world over the coming weeks.

Current SOM students have helped organize a series of ten student-alumni informal winter gatherings to be held between December 22 and January 6 in San Diego, Philadelphia, Toronto, New York, Miami, San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles, Dallas, and Washington, D.C. The student organizers say that the events are intended to introduce students to the alumni in their hometowns in a more informal environment than the usual job-search process.

Over the next month, current students will also fan out across the globe to meet prospective students. These winter break socials are meant to present information to those interested in applying to SOM and to answer questions on the process. The events will be held in 15 cities around the world, including Hong Kong, Kolkata, Mexico City, Ottawa, Shanghai, Taipei, and several locations in the U.S., from December 21 through January 10. Admission officials say the socials will enable prospective students to have direct contact with members of the SOM community.

Yale SOM administrative offices will be closed from Wednesday, December 24 through Thursday, January 1 for the winter break and will reopen on Friday, January 2, 2009.
