Strong Admissions Recruiting Season; Applications Increase 25%
As the application season comes to a close, the Admissions Office would like to thank all of the alumni who very generously volunteered their time and assistance throughout the year.
During the past recruiting season, approximately 350 applicants were referred to us through our alumni referral system. That constitutes over 10% of the total number of applications we received this year. Three hundred and sixty alumni within five years of graduation volunteered to interview for us and conducted 126 interviews this year. And roughly 100 alumni around the world helped us by hosting or attending various recruiting events throughout the year.
The results of these efforts are palpable. Applications to Yale SOM are up by 25% over last year. Our selectivity is under 15% and our yield, the percentage of admitted students who accept our offer, is around 50%. As of June 19, we have 183 students enrolled in the Class of 2009. The average GMAT of these students is 701, and the average GPA is 3.5. View class statistics and profiles of SOM students online.
We are working hard to maintain our strong momentum as we move into the next admissions season. We are in the process of putting together our fall recruiting schedule and have added a number of new events — including visits to China, Japan, Mexico, Korea, England, France, Brazil, Italy, Peru, Spain, and Germany — that we expect will help us attract the best and brightest business students from around the world to SOM.
We hope to continue to strengthen our relationships with the many alumni around the world who have helped promote the school so effectively and passionately to potential MBA students. We are also looking at new ways to engage you to help us identify, select, and attract top business students.
Again, thank you for all your help. We look forward to working with you to recruit SOM’s Class of 2010!
