Visit to AllianceBernstein Gives Students a Good Look at Investment Management
Thirty SOM students spent a full day at AllianceBernstein on October
13, 2006, obtaining an inside look at the firm, investment planning,
managing portfolios, and other aspects of what’s involved in a
career as an investment management professional. The visit was hosted
and coordinated by Ranji Nagaswami ’86, Vice Chairman & CIO,
Rich Evans ’91, Senior Research Analyst, and Farrukh
Zafar ’98,
VP & Director, Investment Planning Platform.
Students shared the following comments about their experience:
“Our company trek to AllianceBernstein truly exemplified the power of alumni connection. The day began with an inspirational speech by our own Yale SOM alumna Ranji Nagaswami, also the Chief Investment Officer at AB, followed by open discussions with the top members of all of AB’s three major areas of business. We had access to AB’s director of research, senior portfolio managers as well as the executive managing director, all of who opened themselves up fully to be our resources.
The fact that the company was willing to spend an entire day with us
from 8am to 5pm, expose us to the key members of the asset management
industry, topped by an amazing view of the central park from AB’s
top floor, made this an extraordinary experience for all of us.” --

“The panelists who spoke did so with a lot of energy, and it seems that they are genuinely interested in SOM and its students.” -- Colin Brooks '08
“The time and personal attentions we received from senior members
of the firm were beyond expectations. It really exemplifies the power
of strong alumni support and the positive role-model effect successful
alumni can have on the students.” -- Jeanne Chow '07
