Trish Karter's ('82) Dancing Deer Baking Co. Wins Award for Business Excellence

Dancing Deer Baking Co. (www.dancingdeer.com), led by CEO and Co-Founder Trish Karter ('82), won the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce 2004 Award for Business Excellence, one of the Chamber's "Small Business of the Year" Awards. Dancing Deer is the only company in the Award's twenty-year history to win the Business Excellence award twice. The company also received the award in 2001.

The Chamber's "Small Business of the Year" Awards recognize the entrepreneurial achievements of Greater Boston's smaller for-profit companies with gross revenues over $1 million and that display strong financial performance, achievement in management, workplace excellence, product innovation, and community and social responsibility. Previous winners include Inc. Magazine, Finagle a Bagel, Boston Duck Tours, Houghton Chemical Corporation, Gentle Giant Moving Company, Nantucket Nectars, and Circles, Inc.

Commenting on Dancing Deer and the award, Karter said, "We work as a team, with commitment both to each other and to high ideals. Excellence is a good thing to shoot for. While we don't always measure up, we're always moving forward! Perhaps along the way we do make our small part of the world a bit better."

The awards ceremony took place on October 14, 2004 at Boston's Westin Copley Place.
