New Book by Barry Nalebuff Provokes Readers to Ask Why Not?
Why not have telemarketers pay you for your time when they call? Why not sell generic first-class postage stamps that remain valid when rates go up? Why not have a fixed-rate mortgage that automatically refinances when interest rates fall? In their book, Why Not? How to Use Everyday Ingenuity to Solve Problems Big and Small, Professors Barry Nalebuff and Ian Ayres (Yale Law School) explain simple methods for generating ingenious solutions to existing problems, and for applying existing solutions to new problems. They write, "We aspire for this book to change the way people think about their own ability to affect the world. Our goal is to make it natural-even expected-for everyone to challenge the status quo and ask, Why not do it this way instead?" The book will be published in October by HBS Press.
