Senior Lecturer in Public Policy

Michael J. Moore is a senior lecturer in the Jackson Institute of Global Affairs, Yale School of Management, and the School of Public Health. He was most recently a professor of public policy at the Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy at the University of Virginia, where he taught courses in econometrics, statistics, and benefit-cost analysis. Also at UVA, he has held positions and taught courses in competition policy, health policy, law and economics, and econometrics at UVA in the Darden Graduate School of Business, where he was the Bank of America Research Professor, the economics department, and the law school. He has also served on the faculties of Duke, INSEAD, the University of Chicago, and UC-Santa Barbara.

Moore’s published research ranges over a number of fields in applied microeconomics, including occupational safety, insurance, health economics, industrial organization, regulation and antitrust, products liability, product safety, asset pricing, and applied econometrics. He has won several awards for this research, including the Kenneth Arrow Award for the best paper in health economics, the Kulp-Wright Award for the best book in risk and insurance, and the best article award from the journal Economic Inquiry. His research has been funded by the National Science Foundation and National Institutes of Health. He was an Olin Fellow at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.

Professor Moore has testified extensively at all stages of the litigation process in the areas of antitrust, fraud, commercial damages, corporate finance, tax, and health, safety and the environment.
