Assistant Professor of Operations Management

Professor Long's research interests include healthcare operations, decision-analytic modeling, simulation, and queuing in hospital settings. Her research bridges the fields of operations research, mathematical epidemiology, and health economics. She has previously developed mathematical models to simulate the HIV/AIDS epidemic in resource-limited settings, and evaluate the cost-effectiveness of combination prevention and treatment interventions. She is currently studying the drivers of excessively long wait times in the intensive care unit on their impact on patient outcomes at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She earned a PhD and an MS in management science and engineering from Stanford University and a BS in operations research and industrial engineering from Cornell University.
