Postdoctoral Associate in Economics

Mitchell Hoffman specializes in labor economics, behavioral economics, and contracts & organizations. In recent research, Hoffman analyzes the interaction of contracts used in providing firm-sponsored training with workers’ overoptimistic beliefs about their productivity.

Hoffman has worked on research with companies in a number of different industries including trucking, high-tech, and call-centers. This work explores the impact of firm strategies and government policies for firms. He actively seeks out new partnerships and collaborations with organizations.

Hoffman’s research has been widely featured in the popular press, including the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and Marginal Revolution, and has been supported by the National Science Foundation and the Kauffman Foundation.
