About the Book
In Life Entrepreneurs: Ordinary People Creating Extraordinary Lives, entrepreneurs Christopher Gergen and Gregg Vanourek document how growing numbers of people are applying the principles of entrepreneurship to life itself. Today, people are increasingly rejecting past approaches to stable careers and lives constructed around safety, security, and status. Rather they are building their lives around purpose, connection, and impact using a distinctively entrepreneurial mindset. Drawing from interviews with fifty-five leading entrepreneurs worldwide, Life Entrepreneurs provides practical strategies for integrating life, work, and purpose. Entrepreneurs interviewed include Howard Schultz (Starbucks), John Hickenlooper (Mayor of Denver), Steve Ells (Chipotle), Bill George (Medtronic), Richard Tait (Cranium), Billy Shore (Share Our Strength), Mark Warner (former Governor of Virginia), Rob Glaser (RealNetworks), Cory Booker (Mayor of Newark), and Gary Erickson (Clif Bar). Yale alumni interviewed include Linda Mason (SOM, Bright Horizons), Seth Goldman (SOM, Honest Tea), Gov. Mark Warner (Yale Law), David Gray (YaleU, New America Foundation), and Jael Kampfe (YaleU, FourTimes Foundation). Additional interviews include a social entrepreneur turned rancher, a yoga instructor, a baker, a minister, a four-star general, and more.
