Mr. Foster is a managing partner of Millbrook Management Group, LLC. Prior to forming Millbrook Management Group, Mr. Foster was with McKinsey & Company, for 31 years, 22 of which were as a senior partner and director.
Mr. Foster has written two best selling business books: Innovation: The Attacker’s Advantage (1986) and Creative Destruction (2001), which focus on the relationships between technological change, innovation, and capital formation and destruction.
Mr. Foster is a member of the board and the Executive and sits on Nominating Committees of Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital, where he is chairman of the Operational Policy Committee. He is a member of the board and the Executive Committee of the W. M. Keck Foundation. He is a member of the CEO Council of the New York Academy of Science. Mr. Foster also serves on the Advisory Board of the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research. Mr. Foster is a member of the board of the Trust Company of the West; Athenahealth, a private healthcare information company; Cardax, an inflammatory disease drug development corporation; and Innosight LLC.
Mr. Foster is a member of the board of the Council of Foreign Relations, where he is a member of the board's Nominating and Membership Committees. In 1999–2000, Mr. Foster led the Study Group on National Innovation and Economic Power which led to the publication of Technological Innovation and Economic Performance (Steil, Victor, and Nelson, editors, Princeton University Press, 2001). Mr. Foster has been a frequent participant in the Highlands Forum (Department of Defense) and the St. Michael’s Forum (U.S. Intelligence Science Board). Mr. Foster received his BS, MS, and PhD from Yale University in engineering and applied science.
