Upon his return to Taiwan, Derek joined CCPC (China Chemical & Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.), a leading publicly listed pharmaceutical company. He started as a staff officer with the marketing division and was promoted to be the VP of the same division. After over 20 years with CCPC, Derek is now the chairman of the board and president of the company.

With quite a few subsidiaries, CCPC is engaged in pharmaceutical manufacturing, marketing and distribution, biotech research, API (active pharmaceutical ingredient) research and manufacturing, providing senior home care services. CCPC also has a subsidiary, SCCPC (Suzhou Chunghwa Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industrial Co.), in Suzhou that manufactures and markets pharmaceutical products throughout China.

Derek received an MPPM from the Yale School of Management, and a bachelor's degree in business administration from Menlo College, California.
