Jane became chief executive officer of the Harvard Management Company in July, 2008, where she is responsible for setting strategy and directing the investment of the University's $30 billion endowment.
Prior to rejoining Harvard Management, she was the chief investment officer at Wellesley College from 2002 to 2008, where she built the college's first investment office and substantially restructured the endowment portfolio. Before joining Wellesley College, Jane was employed by the Harvard Management Company from 1987 to 2001, in a variety of investment positions, including managing direct investments in public and private equity, spearheading the first investments in timberland, and ultimately overseeing all of the externally managed investments for the Harvard endowment across a variety of asset classes.
Prior to joining Harvard Management Company, Jane was a management consultant with Bain & Company in Boston, MA from 1984 to 1987.
From 1980 to 1982 Jane was a manager in the Office of Investments at Yale University. During 1983 she worked with Lord, Abbett, Inc., in New York, as an equities analyst.
Jane has a BA from in English from Yale College '80 and an MBA from Yale SOM '84. She is a chartered financial analyst and a member of the Boston Security Analysts Society. She is on the board of the Boston Foundation, and serves on the Investment Committees at the Rockefeller Foundation and at Partners Healthcare. She is a member of the Yale University Council and formerly served on the Yale Investment Committee.
Jane lives in Concord, MA with her husband, Ralph Earle III, and their two children, Elizabeth (Yale College 2014) and Thomas.
