"The Yale SOM experience prepared me well for the professional world by providing a solid business education and equipping me with the finance knowledge and analytical tools etc, but more importantly it provided me with a framework for decision making in the real world, and enabled me to build confidence as a young and aspiring MBA student by providing access to some of the most successful business and political leaders in America."

Shirley Yeung is one of the first cohorts of mainland Chinese students who attended Yale SOM, and gained valuable experience in the finance world working for U.S. and Hong Kong companies in New York and Hong Kong before returning to Shanghai to start her own investment and advisory business.

As the founder and managing partner of Dragonrise Capital based in Shanghai, China, Shirley now manages an on-shore venture capital fund denominated in RMB, one of the first onshore VC partnership funds counting the State Development Bank as a Limited Partner, and focuses on investments in high growth private Chinese companies in environmentally safe consumer companies and green tech sector.

Born in mainland China, and educated in both China and the United States, Shirley is one of the first groups of venture capitalists in mainland China. She has been instrumental in investments in and financing of a number of high profile and successful Chinese startups which are now multi-billon dollar public companies, including the Series A round investment in Tencent Technologies (HKSE: 700), the largest internet media company in China with $45 billion in market cap, investments in Sohu.com and Sina.com, and Focus Media Holdings (Nasdaq: FMCN) ,the largest Chinese outdoor media company with a market cap of $5 billion, etc.

Prior to her return to mainland China, Shirley was director of venture investments at PCCW in Hong Kong, and before that worked for JP Morgan as a vice president in equity capital markets group. She also worked for NYNEX Asset Management Company before relocating to Asia and managed $3.5 billion in non-U.S. equity investments for the NYNEX Pension Fund, one of the top ten U.S. Corporate Funds.

Shirley is married with two children, and loves to travel and ski during her leisure time.
