Joseph Wright Alsop (PhB 1898) Memorial Scholarship

The Joseph Wright Alsop (PhB 1898) Memorial Scholarship was established in 1976 to honor the memory of Mr. Alsop, who was an alumnus of the Yale Class of 1898 and President of the Covenant Group.

Shanna and Eric Bass '05 MBA Scholarship

This general merit scholarship was established by Shanna and Eric Bass (Yale SOM '05) for students within the Yale School of Management.

The Professor David Berg Leadership Scholarship

The Professor David Berg Leadership Scholarship was established anonymously in 2006 to honor David Berg, who was a professor at Yale SOM from 1977 to 1992. This annual scholarship is awarded to support an incoming student who has demonstrated, in his or her years since college graduation, a commitment to improving both the humaneness and effectiveness of organizational life through personal and institutional self-scrutiny.

Donald G. Borg (BA 1928) Fellowship

The Donald G. Borg Fellowship was established in 1977 to honor the memory of Mr. Borg, who was an alumnus of the Yale Class of 1928.

Roberts W. Brokaw (YC ’72, GRD ’72) Free-Enterprise Scholarship 

Mr. Brokaw (YC '72, GRD '72) established the scholarship in 2004 to support recent college graduates of exceptional promise and creativity who, as MBA candidates, are selected for the Silver Scholars program at Yale SOM and who have plans to pursue studies related to the corporate sector.

George G. Brooks, Jr. (BA 1931) Fellowship

The George G. Brooks, Jr. Fellowship was established in 1977 to honor the memory of Mr. Brooks, who was an alumnus of the Yale College Class of 1931.

Robert C. Busch (Class of 1954) Scholarship

Mr. Busch established the Robert C. Busch (Class of 1954) Scholarship in 2004 in honor of his 50th Yale College Reunion. The scholarship supports recent college graduates of exceptional promise and creativity who, as MBA candidates, are selected for the Silver Scholars program at the Yale School of Management.

Laura Cha (Shi Mei Lun) Scholarship

The Laura Cha (Shi Mei Lun) Scholarship at the Yale School of Management was established by Mrs. Laura Cha, deputy chairman of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation and former vice chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission. This scholarship supports a promising MBA student from mainland China with financial need and provides full tuition support for each of the two years of Yale SOM’s MBA program.

Chapman Scholarship

Established by Steven Chapman (Yale SOM '85), this general merit scholarship is awarded to MBA students at Yale SOM with a preference given to students from Africa, China, India, Russia, or the Commonwealth of Independent States.

John G. Conley (1985) Scholarship

The John G. Conley Scholarship was established in 2005 by Mr. Conley, an alumnus of the Yale SOM Class of 1985.

Consortium for Graduate Study in Management Fellowship

The mission of the Consortium for Graduate Study in Management is to enhance diversity in American business by helping to reduce the serious underrepresentation of African Americans, Hispanic Americans and Native Americans in both its member schools’ enrollments and the ranks of management. Candidates with a demonstrated commitment to the Consortium’s mission are encouraged to apply to Yale SOM through the Consortium application process. Accepted candidates are considered for full-tuition fellowships for their two years of full-time MBA study.

Edward J. De La Rosa and Elaine F. Tumonis Scholarship

Established in 2007 by Edward J. De La Rosa ’81 and his wife, Elaine F. Tumonis YC ’80, this scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in the MBA program with a preference given to Hispanic students.

Michael P. Dowling Scholarship

The Michael P. Dowling Scholarship was established in 1993 by Mr. Dowling, who received his BS from Yale College in 1974 and his MPPM/MFS from the Yale School of Management and the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies in 1982. Mr. Dowling is president of the Dowling Foundation, which works primarily on natural resources and quality of life issues. He is also a founding partner of Western Ranchland Investors, generators of conservation development solutions for threatened agricultural and natural landscapes. The scholarship is awarded alternately by the Yale School of Management and the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies to a joint degree student.

Emmett Family Fellowship

The Emmett Family Fellowship, established in 2009, is awarded to third-year students enrolled in the joint degree program between the Yale School of Management and the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.

Frederick V. Ernst '60 Scholarship

Established in 2009 by Yale graduate, Frederick V. Ernst YC ’60, this scholarship is awarded to students pursuing the three-year joint degree program between the Yale School of Management and the School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.

Forté Foundation Fellowship

The Forté Fellows program is administered by the Forté Foundation, whose mission is to substantially increase the number of women business owners and leaders by increasing the flow of women into key educational gateways and business networks.

Frederick Frank (BA 1954) Fellowships for Language Study

The Frederick Frank Fellowships for Language Study were established in 1992 by Mr. Frank (YC '54), who is vice chairman at Peter J. Solomon Company and a member of the Yale SOM Board of Advisors. Mr. Frank established the scholarships to encourage and help students to prepare for leadership positions in a world where national borders are giving way to a truly global economy.

Janet "Ginger" Gelb Scholarship

The Janet "Ginger" Gelb Scholarship was established in 1992 to honor the memory of Ms. Gelb, who was a Yale SOM alumna of the Class of 1984. The scholarship is awarded to women of particular promise at Yale SOM.

H. Stuart Harrison (BA 1932) Fellowship

The H. Stuart Harrison Fellowship was established in 1980 by Mr. Harrison, who was an alumnus of the Yale College Class of 1932.

Hechinger Scholarship

John W. Hechinger, an alumnus of the Yale Class of 1941, established the scholarship at the Yale School of Management in 1983. The scholarship is awarded to students from the metro Washington, D.C. area, with a preference for students of African American descent.

Frederick T. Holliday (PhB 1920) and Frederick T. Holliday, Jr. (BA 1945) Memorial Scholarship

The Frederick T. Holliday and Frederick T. Holliday, Jr. Memorial Scholarship was established in 1963 to honor the memories of Mr. Holliday and his son, graduates of the Yale Class of 1920 and 1945, respectively. The scholarship is awarded to students from Indiana or bordering states.

Jacqueline C. and John P. Hullar Scholarship

Established in 2008 by Jacqueline C. (YC '79) and John P. Hullar (YC '79), this scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in the joint degree program between the Yale School of Management and the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.

Carl W. Knobloch, Jr. Fellowship

Established in 2010 by Carl W. Knobloch, Jr. (YC '51), this scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in the joint degree program between the Yale School of Management and the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.

Jess Morrow Johns (BA 1947) Memorial Scholarship for Advertising and Marketing

The Jess Morrow Johns Memorial Scholarship for Advertising and Marketing was established in 1983 to honor the memory of Mr. Johns, an alumnus of the Yale Class of 1947. The scholarship is awarded to students in the field of advertising or marketing.

Irene A. Loukides Scholarship

The Irene A. Loukides Scholarship was established in 2003 to honor the memory of Ms. Loukides, a longtime Yale SOM employee and an enthusiastic, dedicated supporter of the school.

David I. Mazer Scholarship

The David I. Mazer Scholarship was established in 1979 by Mr. Mazer, an alumnus of the Yale Class of 1950.

H. Hugh McConnell Scholarship

The H. Hugh McConnell Scholarship was established in 1960 to honor the memory of Mr. McConnell, who was an alumnus of the Yale Class of 1932.

Joseph C. McNay (BA 1956) Fellowship in Finance

The Joseph C. McNay Fellowship in Finance was established in 1987 by Mr. McNay (YC '56), chairman, chief investment officer and managing principal of Essex Investment Management Company. The scholarship is awarded to students in the field of finance.

The Jane Mendillo YC '80, MBA '84 and Ralph Earle MBA '84 Scholarship

Established in 2009 by Yale SOM alumni, Jane Mendillo and Ralph Earle, both from the Class of 1984, this scholarship is awarded to Yale SOM students pursuing studies with a focus on finance and/or the environment.

Gordon and Betty Moore Fellowship

The Moore Fellows Program seeks well-qualified candidates to undertake the three-year, joint degree program at the Yale School of Management and the School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. Successful applicants will receive full tuition and living expenses for each of the three years of the program. In addition, funding is provided for at least one summer internship to be carried out with a Moore Foundation grantee organization in the Andes-Amazon region.

National Society of Hispanic MBAs UPP Scholarship

In 2009, the Yale School of Management teamed up with the National Society of Hispanic MBAs as part of its University Partnership Program (UPP). In hopes of increasing the number of Hispanic students completing MBAs, this partial to full-tuition scholarship is awarded to outstanding, incoming Hispanic students and incoming students with a demonstrated commitment to the Hispanic community.

Betsy R. Pace '80 and William B. Pace '80 Scholarship

The Betsy R. Pace '80 and William B. Pace '80 Scholarship was established in 2004. Mrs. Pace is a partner at Spark & Kindling and Mr. Pace is a senior fellow at Civic Ventures who also serves on the Yale Center for Customer Insights Advisory Board.

PETAL Foundation Scholarship

The PETAL Foundation Scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in the joint degree program between the Yale School of Management and the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies who are residents of any non-OECD (emerging market) country.

Donald Rappaport '47 and Susan Rappaport Scholarship

The Donald Rappaport ’47 and Susan Rappaport Scholarship, established in 2007, is awarded to first-year students.

John F. Riddell (PhB 1913) Memorial Fellowship

The John F. Riddell Memorial Fellowship was established in 1979 to honor the memory of Mr. Riddell, who was an alumnus of the Yale Class of 1913 and the owner of the Riddell Petroleum Company in New York.

Richard A. Robertson III (PhB 1921) Fellowship

The Richard A. Robertson III Fellowship was established in 1977 to honor the memory of Mr. Robertson, an alumnus of the Yale Class of 1921.

The Sim Family Foundation Scholarship

Established in 2011 by H. Boon Sim '92, the Sim Family Foundation Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship, with preference given to students from the Pacific Rim (including the Western United States, Canada, and South America) with non-traditional backgrounds.

David and Karen Sobotka Scholarship

Established in 2010 by Karen and David Sobotka (YC '78), the scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in the joint degree program between the Yale School of Management and the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.

Sheldon L. Sussman Family Scholarship

Established in 2010 by Sheldon L. Sussman, a graduate of the Yale School of Public Health ('80) and the Yale School of Management ('83) and his wife Susan Zimny, this scholarship is awarded to an MBA student seeking a joint degree in any of the following fields: environment, healthcare, medicine, or drama.

Samuel B. Sutphin (PhB 1899) Fellowship

This fellowship was established in 1984 in memory of Mr. Samuel B. Sutphin, an alumnus of the Yale Class of 1899, by his son, Dudley V. Sutphin, a graduate of the Yale Class of 1937.

Teach For America Scholarship

Given their similar missions and common interest in developing leaders who will improve the world around them, the Yale School of Management and Teach for America (TFA) have teamed up to establish a merit scholarship for a qualified TFA alumnus to attend Yale SOM.

G. Harold Welch Scholarship

The G. Harold Welch Scholarship was established in 1987 by Mr. Welch to bring together Yale and the New Haven community by providing financial assistance to an incoming student from the New Haven area.

West Point Memorandum of Agreement

Given the nature of educational excellence at the United States Military Academy (USMA) and the Yale School of Management, the schools have entered into an agreement by which up to two active-duty military officers designated for three-year teaching positions at the USMA will receive a significantly reduced tuition to earn their MBA at Yale SOM.

Yale SOM Veterans Scholarship

The Yale SOM Veterans Scholarship was established in 2012 by a Yale College alumnus to support MBA students who are U.S. veterans, with a preference given to those who served tours of duty in Iraq and/or Afghanistan since September 11, 2001.

YQ Scholarship

Established by Mr. Yongqiang Qian ’00, the YQ Scholarship at the Yale School of Management  awards half-tuition scholarships to MBA students from mainland China who demonstrate need and have graduated from a high school in mainland China.

Paolo Zannoni Scholarship

Established in 2009 by Paolo Zannoni (MA '87, MPhil '87 in Political Science), this scholarship is awarded to second-year Yale SOM students with a preference given to those with an interest in the intersection between government and the economy. Students who have been awarded a merit-based scholarship as first-year students are eligible for this award.

Kevin Y. Zhang Scholarship

The Kevin Y. Zhang Scholarship, offered since 2006, is designed to increase the international diversity of the student body by offering quarter-tuition scholarships for first-year students of exceptional merit from mainland China who demonstrate financial need.
