The Yale School
of Management values the leadership skills, maturity, and discipline that military veterans bring to graduate business education.

At Yale SOM, veterans can take advantage of increased financial assistance and rigorous leadership training.

In 2012, veterans from the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Navy joined Yale SOM’s vibrant veterans community after serving in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Asia.

Leadership

Yale SOM is dedicated to educating leaders who can find solutions for complex global problems across the for-profit, entrepreneurial, nonprofit, and government sectors. The Yale SOM approach draws intellectually curious and broadminded people who want to understand how their leadership decisions affect both their organizations and the broader society.

To enhance its leadership training, Yale SOM has appointed Brigadier General (Retired) Thomas A. Kolditz as professor in the practice of leadership and director of the school’s comprehensive Leadership Development Program.

Financial Assistance for Veterans

In 2012 Yale University updated its Yellow Ribbon Program agreement with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, significantly increasing the university’s contribution to the Post-9/11 G.I. Bill.  The Post-9/11 G.I. Bill provides financial assistance to America’s newest military veterans seeking higher education.

Several schools at Yale, including SOM, have lifted the cap on recipients and/or raised the size of the per student contribution. SOM has doubled its contribution to $10,000.

Additional Benefits

GMAC has named Yale SOM a “Military Friendly School” because SOM waives the application fee for veterans and offers enrollment deferrals to military candidates who are currently deployed in action.

Yale SOM participates in the West Point Memorandum of Agreement, which provides reduced tuition for candidates who return to West Point after graduation to teach leadership.
